INFRASTRUCTURE

 

Prem Institute of Medical Sciences is having fully furnished spacious lecture halls equipped with modern facilities of sitting and excellent infrastructure, boards, LCD for power point projection OHP etc., along with well trained and experienced Teaching Faculty.

ACADEMIC FACILITIES:

LABORATORIES

Well equipped Laboratories with articulated and disarticulated skeleton, manikins- adult/child, models like, Cranium, Heart, Kidney, Larynx, Reproductive system, Digestive system, Regenerative system, Torso dummy etc., are the  part of the infrastructure.  Nutrition and Microbiology Labs are included.

NURSING ARTS LAB

A well equipped six bedded Nursing Arts Demonstration laboratory has been provided to students for simulation and practice of nursing procedures both fundamental as well as advanced procedures in nursing.  Demonstration practice and return demonstrations by students duly supervised by Nursing faculty is encouraged for perfecting student learning.  C.D.’s with procedure demonstration are also available.

Transport Facilities: A big bus and Mazda for students and cars for faculty and ambulance for shift duty are available for transporting student to the clinical field and community posting.

FIELD TRAINING

The Prem Institute of Medical Sciences is committed to promise of health care at the primary, secondary and tertiary levels of Health Care Delivery.  The Institution has affiliated with Urban & Rural health centers for field training in Community health.  These Urban & Rural health centers cover a population of 99000& 207000 respectively.  PIMS has its own PHC and sub-center which is running successfully under Public Private Participation (PPP).

INTERNSHIP

Every candidate will complete compulsory internship in the last year of all programs and will be oriented to Research Methodology, learning problem solving methods; Practical training in Ethics and legal issues. Other areas of hospital & community administration will be emphasized to promote their eligibility for placement at State, National and International levels.

STUDENTS FACILITIES

 

Hostel is compulsory.

Hostel facilities are available. Provision of Indoor & other creative activities to use leisure time has been made and is being acquired for sports and outdoor games.  There will be big playground in the new campus.

Mess

It is compulsory for the students to eat in the mess. Mess charges are rupees 750/- per month and Rs. 1400/- per month in the cafeteria. Mess fee are liable to change with one month notice.

Health Care

The Institution provides health care for the students during training period; the students will get routine health care. They will have to pay for any specialized treatment, operations, medications etc. when required outside the Institution. All trainees falling ill, being admitted or recommended rest will be treated absent from class and this absence shall not be counted towards minimum attendance required for appearing in the examination. Students suffering from some long term illness are likely to be sent back home for treatment. They may be considered for readmission at a later date if found medically fit. No self medication is permitted and on discovering it will be dealt with firmly.

Special features

 

1.  Training is integrated with Maternity and Child Welfare & Community Health.

2   Training will be supervised with an aim to academically make them eligible further Training. Every effort will be made to give coaching and to enable them to go up for higher educational programs and specialties.

3.  Side by side with professional training, care will be taken to provide facilities for physical development. Table Tennis, Volley-Ball, Basket Ball, Badminton and a number of other indoor games are available for recreation and exercise. They also have an extra curricular activities club, Picnics are arranged whenever possible.  Students enjoy freedom to go to their own place of worship, whenever possible, especially on Sundays if not on duty. Lectures (moral spiritual/personality and leadership building related) in the Institute auditorium will be arranged. Thus the students during their training period have an opportunity to develop mentally, physically and spiritually.

HOSTEL RULES

1.                 Each student on duty must rise in time.

2.                 Every student must be in bed by 10:30 P.M. light out at 11:00 P.M.

3.                 Uniform and Clothes

a)  Full uniform must be worn on duty

b)  Chappals are not allowed.

c)  Jewelry (including nose rings and ear rings or cosmetics) will not be permitted.

d)  Students must not sleep in their uniform

e)  Students (nursing) must wear their hair up, off their uniform collars, covered with a net.

f)   All clothes and uniform must be marked with initials of the Students (embroidered or indelible ink.)

 

Rooms

 

a)  All beds must be neatly made before going on duty.

b)  Hostel room is to be cleaned daily by the occupants themselves.

c)  Heaters, Stoves, electric iron, mobiles etc. shall not be used by the Student in the hostel rooms, failing which a fine of Rs 200/- per default will be imposed. (mobiles will be confiscated)

d)  All students must sleep in their own beds in their own rooms.

e)  No cloth, cotton or refuse is to be thrown in the flush toilets. Misuse of the bathrooms will be severely punished.

f)  Students shall take good care of the furniture and other articles supplied for their use by the Institution. Any damage should be reported promptly to the warden. Any breakage found to have been caused through negligence will be charged from individual concerned.

g)  Students must be careful to switch off fans and lights when not needed Economy of electricity and water must be practiced.

h)  No student will go to her hostel room, while on duty/in classes. In case of emergency permission to go to her room must be taken from relevant authority.

Mess rules

a)  Mess fees to be paid before 10th of every month in advance for next month, otherwise late fees will be charged.

b)  Food is to be eaten in the Dining Room only.

c)  Students will not take their food to the rooms unless in the case of the sick. In such a case, written permission shall be taken from the relevant authority.

d)  Noisy laughter and loud talking in the dining room and wards is to be controlled.  This disturbs the patients or classes in progress.

Visitors:

a)  Students are not allowed to meet any visitor, not mentioned in the list of visitors, permitted by her parents/guardian. (Parents are required to submit a single photograph on admission, of all the family members that may be allowed to visit the student- up to 5 members only.

b)  Students may meet their authorized visitor when they are off duty between 9:00 A.M. and 5:00 P.M. on Sundays only. Before meeting the visitor a student must take the permission from the Warden, or Principal. Relatives of students are not allowed to go into the Hostel or stay overnight. Incase a relative is forced to stay overnight the student concerned shall seek special permission of the above from relevant authority, who shall decide according to the situation.

c)  In case a relative of a Student is admitted to the Hospital, she may visit him/her only after obtaining prior permission from relevant Authority in case of emergencies.

Leave rules

a)  All requests for bazaar leave or permission to go to Temple Gurudwara or Church should be made on Friday morning in the Outing Register placed in relevant authority’s office.

b)  Student making the above application must collect their Leave Passes from the office at 10:00 a.m. & 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Leave slip for Sunday   must be collected on Saturday only.  Unless the leave slip has been taken, a student should not presume that she has been permitted or her application has been sanctioned. Disciplinary action will be taken against the defaulters. On return from leave, please notify your return in person to appropriate authority. In case the student is on leave at home and cannot return in time. Due to illness a medical certificate from a M.B.B.S doctor from the Govt. Hospital clearly stating the diagnosis and the reason why the students cannot return to duty must be obtain. This application must be sent immediately to the relevant authority. A student not returning from outside leave in time will be liable to disciplinary action, may be charged Rs. 100/- per day of late arrival plus any other action taken by the Principal, including dismissal from the training.

 

Sickness

1.  Sick students report to the relevant authority who will accompany them to hospital. Special doctors are designated for the student’s health care. All records will be kept only in the sick register. Students should confine themselves to the Hostel, Hospital or room allocated for the purpose. Students must inform the relevant authority, immediately when given leave or admitted to the hospital.

General behavior

 

1.  Hospital servant must not be sent on errands of personal nature

2.  All purchases made from the market must be against cash. Students must refrain from buying on credit.

3.  During off duty hours, students will not go to the hospitals for any reason.

4.  All students are required to attend special lectures etc. whenever arranged, if not on duty. Those wishing to abstain must seek written permission to do so.

5.  The hostel rooms etc. can be checked at any time by the relevant authority.

6.  Students are not allowed to keep large sums in cash, jewelry or other valuables with them in the hostel. The institution shall not be responsible for any thefts etc.

7.  Students will not receive any letters from postman or otherwise. All written communications must be received through the relevant authority. Incoming letters and telegrams are liable to be opened if considered necessary.

8.  Students are expected to co-operate with institution and work for the betterment of the Institution and in general help in developing better public opinion.

9.  Students must attend all classes. Permission must be obtained from the relevant authority, if unable to attend a class. Absence from the classes is punishable. A fine may be charged from the defaulter.

10. One day week off is given. This must not be changed without permission.

11. Intoxicating drinks, Narcotics etc. are not allowed to be taken in the hostel.

12. Medicines must not be taken from the Hospital unless there is a written order by the Doctor.

13. To maintain the discipline in the Department, Hospital and Hostel is very important. Rules & regulation & code of discipline are published from time to time and shall be followed by the Students.

14. Students may be terminated from their study for disobedience of rules and regulations prescribed by the authority. Taking part in a movement to create any kind of disturbances in the hostel, attempt to stage a strike in the Institution; for any reason whatsoever, instigate any other to do so and take part in any other activity which according to the relevant authority will undermine discipline, will be severely dealt with.

15. Students responsible for breakage of equipment etc. caused through their negligence will have to pay penalty. The amount if any will be added to the fee installment.
