2.1 Introduction

 

Prem Physiotherapy & Rehabilitation College runs a 4 ½ yr. Bachelor of Physiotherapy Programme affiliated to Kurukshetra University Kurukshetra for developing internationally competent professional hands in Physiotherapy. B.Ph.T. is a well recognized job oriented and highly acclaimed professional course. The increasing demand and scope of the course make it a dynamic and growing field of study, practice, as well as research. 

The college has well established laboratories equipped with state of the art equipments, audio visual class rooms, and library with a number of Books, Reference Books, Journals and Research material. A fully functional OPD on the campus is an added advantage.

Students are exposed to the latest techniques in Physiotherapy through workshop/ Seminars & are also computer literate keeping in view of the demand of having soft-skills in modern times.

2.2 THE COURSE PROFILE & SCOPE:-

 

The degree of Bachelor of Physiotherapy (B.Ph.T.) shall comprise of a course of study spread over a period of four academic years followed by six months rotatory internship and the candidates will be full time regular students of the course.  A person qualified with a degree in Physiotherapy is entitled to write “Dr.” with their name and P.T. as a suffix So as to be recognized by Medical Faculty as a registered Physiotherapy practitioner.  Today Physiotherapy is an emerging area which is full of immense potential in contemporary society.  The college is committed to providing well groomed, disciplined, quality Professionals with a technical background by methodical education, research & Development, so as to meet the needs of the Industry, Business, Service sector & Society at the large with the sound knowledge so as to acquire and develop attitudes, skills and values. Physiotherapy is helpful in treating many diseases & disabilities.  It is often used in treating heart and lung diseases and various types of paralysis and injuries.  Graduates in Physiotherapy can associate themselves with a variety of purposeful projects, such as therapy of injured, diseased, ailing or rehabilitation of physically disabled, in Ergonomic Consultancy and also in development of special physical or psychological conditions for enhancement of the competence in players, boxers, weight-lifters, dancers actors etc. B.Ph.T. at Prem Physiotherapy & Rehabilitation College has an added advantage of a practical exposure to handling cases in their own 100 bedded hospital set up by the parent body Lala Harbhagwan Dass Memorial & Dr. Prem Hospital Pvt. Ltd.

 

 

 

2.2.1 AREAS OF WORK FOR PHYSIOTHERAPISTS:

1) Therapy

 

Physiotherapists work in Clinics, Hospitals, Health-care Centers, Home for the Aged and Schools for the Handicapped. Many patients suffering from various ailments and injuries need the physical therapies so as to recover their health and many times for curing dysfunction of the body parts.  The Physiotherapists with a recognized degree work as therapy practitioners for them.

 

2) Research

 

There are a number of still unexplored areas such as Dentistry, Industrial Medicine, Post -operative pain relief and many more areas where Physiotherapy has immense potential awaiting therapy and research.  It is a highly prospective field of Therapeutics and Ergonomic Research which also includes the currently active therapeutics and ergonomic research in fields like Orthopedics, Gynaecology, Neurology, Cardio-thoracic, Sports- Medicine etc.

 

3) Training Consultant: Health-Managers

 

The experts also have a vital role in development and maintenance of skilled physical and psychological ability for players, weight lifters, boxers, athletes and even for  dancers and actors etc.  They provide their services and guidance as the authentic trainers for them at various levels of competence and requirement.

 

4)  Ergonomic consultancy

 

A formal qualification and experience in the subject – Physiotherapy would call for an ability to guide the instruments and equipments designed for various situations and purpose. Physiotherapists contribute to a great extent in employing their skills for Ergonomic demands.

 

5)  Placement Cell

 

Our placement Cell will reach out to the top Health Care and Rehabilitation Centers, Hospitals and Agencies for the best of placement for students groomed by us. College Management is continuously in touch with the leading Health Care Centers, Hospitals, Clinics, Rehabilitation Centers, Non-Government Health care Organizations and various Governments related Health Agencies to get the updates on the continuing trends of placements in the field.  Our placement Cell works for creating the jobs and opportunity awareness amongst students. 

 

 

2.2.2 A Route to H1B-Visa

 

The degree holder of B.Ph.T. has immense scope of getting high profile placement abroad as certified Physiotherapists, especially in developed countries.  The qualification of B.Ph.T. and skill acquired as a physiotherapist are of high acclaim worldwide.  The four and a half years course structure and professional exposure for B.Ph.T. at Prem Physiotherapy & Rehabilitation College provides International Competence to our students.

 

2.2.3 Scope of Further studies

 

Fields like that of Masters degree in Orthopedics Neurology, Sports, Manipulations Cardiothoracic, Physiotherapy etc are available for the students interested in specialized further studies.

2.4 Admission Procedure:

 

i)                   The candidates are required to attain the age of 17 years on Dec., 31st of the year of admission.

ii)                All the candidate belonging to category “Children or Grand children of freedom fighter/ Physically handicap candidates / ex-Service man and their wards” will be considered equally.

iii)              Competition for reserved seats will be amongst the candidates belonging to the categories for which the seats have been reserved.  Seats remaining vacant on account of non-availability of eligible, candidates would be placed under    ‘open merit list’.

iv)              All candidates belonging to the SC/ST and backward classes etc. must submit a certificate from the city magistrate to S.D.O. (civil) of the concerned area showing that they belong to these classes/castes.

v)                As per Haryana Govt. letter dated 27/2/97, there will be two group of SC i.e. Group- A and Group-B, 20% reserved seat for SC candidates have also been divided i.e. 10% for Group – A and 10% for Group-B for admission.  If the seats from SC-Group-A are not filled up then these will be SC group-B and vice versa.

 

2.4.1 ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

 

  1. Candidate must have passed (10+2) or HSC Pre University or equivalent there to with Physics, Chemistry,Biology & English as the main subjects.

  2.  Minimum marks in the above subjects in aggregate should be 50% or more and at least 33% in each subject. (However only for SC/ST candidates, the percentage will be relaxed to 40%.

  3. Candidate must have completed 17 years or more by 31st December of the year of admission.

 

2.4.2 METHODS OF SELECTION AND ADMISSION

 

     The admission will be made strictly on the merit of aggregate marks obtained by the candidate in (10+2) Board examination.  If two or more candidate have identical marks their list will be determined by the marks obtained by them in the subject of Biology (Botany & Zoology).  In case the marks in the subject of biology are also identical, the candidate senior in age will be preferred.

 

COUNSELING

 

Candidate will be required to appear before the admission committee in order to get the relevant certificates screened.

  1. Admission committee shall have the power to reject any certificate not considered valid.

  2. The admission is given provisionally during counseling subject to approval by the University.

    No judicial proceedings will be entertained against the managing committee / governing body / Admission committee/Kurukshetra University/Principal regarding admission.

     

    2.4.3 MEDICAL EXAMINATION

     

    Physical fitness of the selected candidate will be determined by a medical board.  Admission of those found medically unfit will be liable to cancellation.

     

    2.4.4 Duration of Course: 4 ½ Years Course including 6 months internship.

     

    INTERNSHIP FOR 6 MONTHS

     

    After passing the final year i.e. Part – IV Examination, Candidate will be required to immediately undergo compulsory rotatory full time INTERNSHIP for 6 months in a recognized institution, Hospital or center Rehabilitation, no candidate will be allowed the Degree Certificate without successfully completing the 6 months of INTERNSHIP.  No candidate will be allowed to start his/her Internship until & unless he or she has passed all the subject of the B.Ph.T. Degree Course.

    2.5 INSTRUCTION FOR SUBMISSION OF APPLICATIONS

     

    Application should be submitted on the prescribed form by must be accompanied by the Photostat documents duly attested.

     

    1. Certificate from the principal of school last attended,

    2. Certificate of date of birth,

    3. Character Certificate from the Principal of School/ College last attended,

    4. Scheduled Caste/Backward class Certificate duly certified,

    5. Certificate as per rule of Army/Govt. from Zila Sainik Board regarding eligibility of claim of seat for the children of Ex-servicemen.

    6. Detailed marks certificate of (10+2) or any equivalent qualification examination.

    7. Envelope containing 2 copies of passport size recent photograph pasted on Admission application form.

     

    Note: Please bring all the original Certificates at the time of interview for verification by the Admission Committee/Submission to Kurukshetra University.  In case the candidate has passed qualifying/last examination from other than Board of School Education, Haryana or Kurukshetra University, he/she will have to submit the Migration Certificate from the concerned Board / University within 15 days of admission to the institute.

     

    1. Incomplete applications will not be considered.

    2. The college prospectus must be read carefully. Once submitted will not be returned to the candidate.  It will be responsibility of the candidate within ten days of submission of the application to find out from the college acceptance/rejection status of the application.

       

      2.6 Uniform:

      Wearing of over-all & I.D. card is compulsory in Clinical &College hours.

      Subjects in 1 year:  Anatomy, Physiology, Exercise Therapy I, Electro therapy -I, Biochemistry, English, Sociology.

       

      Subjects in 2nd year:   Psychology, Electro therapy- II, Exercise therapy –II, Biomechanics, Pathology & Microbiology, Pharmacology.

       

      Subjects in 3rd year: Gen. Medicine. Gen. Surgery, Orthopedics-I, Physiotherapy in Medical Condition –I, Physiotherapy in Surgical Condition –I, Research Methodology & Biostatic, Computer Application.

       

      Subjects in 4th year: Neurology, Geriatrics & Pediatrics, Obs & Gynecology & ENT, Ophthalmology, Physiotherapy in Medical condition II, Physiotherapy in surgical conditions II and Rationale of Rehabilitation, Physiotherapy Ethics & law, Orthopedics-II
